bafetimbi-gomis-lyon-icon-frame-mens-hoodie
Bafétimbi Gomis Lyon Icon Frame Men's Hoodie

Bafétimbi Gomis Lyon Icon Frame Men's Hoodie - Icon Frame Football Fanwear

Bafétimbi Gomis brought power, persistence and one of football's most recognisable goal celebrations to Lyon. This men's hoodie returns to that period through a red-white-and-blue Icon Frame placed neatly on the left chest. It is made for supporters who remember the striker driving through Ligue 1 defences, dropping into his panther-like celebration and giving Olympique Lyonnais a reliable focal point during a changing era at the Stade de Gerland.

Gomis crossed one of French football's strongest rivalries when he moved from Saint-Étienne to Lyon in 2009. The decision placed immediate pressure on him, but he established himself across five seasons. He combined physical strength with intelligent movement and a willingness to take responsibility in crowded penalty areas. His Lyon record reached 95 goals in 244 official appearances, evidence of sustained output rather than one isolated run of form.

His most dramatic European night came away to Dinamo Zagreb in December 2011. Lyon needed an extraordinary result to progress from their Champions League group, and Gomis scored four times in a 7-1 victory. Three of those goals arrived in a historically rapid burst, giving him one of the competition's fastest hat-tricks. It remains the perfect illustration of his game at its most dangerous: direct, forceful and able to turn a match in minutes.

Gomis helped Lyon win the Coupe de France and Trophée des Champions in 2012. His wider career later took him to Swansea City, Marseille, Galatasaray, Al-Hilal and Kawasaki Frontale, with league titles and major goals in Turkey and Saudi Arabia. He retired in 2024 after a career that crossed several football cultures, yet the Lyon chapter remains central: five seasons, European nights and the image of the lion-hearted striker celebrating in front of the supporters.

The artwork focuses on the unmistakable Lyon period without imitating a club shirt. Strong red, white and blue accents surround a player-led frame, while the hoodie leaves plenty of clear fabric around it. That balance suits Gomis's cult status: the reference is obvious to those who watched him, but the garment remains modern, restrained and easy to wear outside a stadium.

The Bafétimbi Gomis Lyon Icon Frame Men's Hoodie is built on a substantial 280 GSM men's hoodie with a regular, easy-to-layer fit. The cotton-rich blend gives the outer surface a smooth base for the artwork, while the soft interior, kangaroo pocket, ribbed cuffs and adjustable hood make it useful through British autumns, winter match days and cool evenings. It is football clothing designed to be worn repeatedly rather than treated as a souvenir.

Choose Navy, Red, Black or Grey in sizes XS to 5XL. The artwork is positioned on the left chest, giving it the feel of a carefully selected badge without imitating a club crest. Wear it with black cargos and trainers for a modern streetwear look, with denim for the pub, or under a coat on the journey to a match. The restrained front also makes it easy to combine with a cap, scarf or vintage football shirt without the outfit becoming overloaded.

This is a strong gift for a Olympique Lyonnais supporter, a collector of memorable football eras or the friend who can identify a player from a hairstyle, stance or colour combination alone. It suits birthdays, Christmas, Father's Day, tournament summers and group trips, but it does not need an occasion. Fans who grew up with stickers, trading cards, football games and late-night highlights will understand the miniature-card quality of the frame immediately.

Every Players Couture item is made to order. We do not manufacture a warehouse of finished stock and hope it sells; the garment is selected, printed and prepared after an order is placed. That approach allows a much broader range of players and sporting stories while reducing unnecessary finished-product waste. Our normal UK dispatch target is shown at checkout, UK delivery is free, and international delivery is available for supporters ordering from overseas.

To look after the print, wash the garment inside out on a cool cycle with similar colours. Avoid harsh bleach, do not iron directly over the artwork and follow the care label supplied with the garment. Air drying is preferable where practical. These straightforward steps help retain the colour and clean edges of the Icon Frame through regular wear.

This design is an independent artistic tribute to Bafétimbi Gomis, Olympique Lyonnais football culture and the memories supporters attach to them. It is not an official product and is not produced, endorsed or authorised by the player, club, national association, league or competition organisers. No relationship should be inferred from the artwork. The piece is intended as transformative fan art and cultural appreciation, not as a replacement for official merchandise or an attempt to mislead customers.

Players Couture hopes to work directly with players, clubs and rights holders as the collection grows, including collaborations, appropriate royalties or charitable contributions where an agreement can be reached. If a represented party has a concern, we invite them to contact us. We will review it promptly and in good faith and, where appropriate, amend or remove the design. No finished stock is produced until a customer orders it.

Explore more independent football clothing and fanwear, or browse our collection of football hoodies.
