About Van Den Berg: Brentford’s Defensive Force
Sepp van den Berg arrived at Brentford in August 2024 on a long-term deal, bringing fresh ambition, youth and potential to the club’s backline.
He began his senior career at PEC Zwolle, breaking into their first team in March 2018. After a £1.3 million move to Liverpool in 2019, he gained valuable experience through loan spells at Preston North End, Schalke 04 and Mainz 05, showing versatility at centre-back and right-back.
At Mainz, he made 35 appearances and scored three goals, earning praise for his calmness on the ball and aerial presence. His move to Brentford signalled the club’s faith in his future as a defensive linchpin.
At his new club, Van Den Berg is embracing the challenge. He’s already putting in full 90-minute performances in tight Premier League encounters, proving to be a dependable presence in the heart of the defence.
