A T-shirt built around Ernie Toseland
Ernie Toseland was the flying outside-right in the Manchester City side that won the club's first league championship. After scoring 11 goals in 22 league appearances for Coventry City, he joined City in 1929 and became a fixture at Maine Road. Toseland played in the 1933 FA Cup final, then helped City defeat Portsmouth to lift the cup in 1934. In 1936 to 1937 he appeared in every league match as City took the First Division title, contributing speed, dribbling and goals from the flank. Across all competitions he made more than 400 City appearances before later playing for Sheffield Wednesday and, after the war, Mossley.
More than a familiar name
ERNIE TOSELAND represents a foundational Manchester City team long before modern success. The full name gives City and Coventry supporters a precise heritage reference to a winger once described as football's Jesse Owens.
The name is set in direct collegiate-style lettering so the subject remains the focus. It gives friends, family and committed fans a design they can recognise immediately, while keeping the T-shirt useful as everyday clothing rather than limiting it to one match, screening, tournament or event.
How to wear the Ernie Toseland T-shirt
Wear it on match day, for away travel, in the pub with friends or on a normal weekend when a replica shirt is not the easiest choice. It works with denim, trainers and an overshirt, giving football fans a direct way to represent the history behind the name. White gives the print a crisp finish, Black and Navy are versatile darker choices, Grey has a softer athletic character and Red brings more impact.
Soft cotton, regular fit and UK printing
This men's T-shirt is made from soft ringspun cotton with a crew neck, short sleeves and a regular fit. Sizes run from S, M and L through XL, 2XL and 3XL, with White, Black, Red, Navy and Grey colour options. Check the size guide before ordering, particularly when buying as a gift or when a looser fit is preferred.
Players Couture prints each garment to order in the United Kingdom after the customer chooses the colour and size. No finished, pre-printed stock is produced before an order is placed. This reduces the need to hold large quantities of completed stock and makes room for specialist names alongside widely known favourites. Free UK delivery is included.
Wash the T-shirt inside out with similar colours on a cool cycle. Avoid bleach, do not iron directly over the lettering and air dry where practical. These simple steps help protect the cotton shape and printed surface through repeat wear.
