UCLA basketball is one of the defining names in the college game. The Bruins have won a record eleven NCAA men’s championships, ten of them during John Wooden’s extraordinary spell as head coach, when standards of preparation and unselfish play became as famous as the trophies.
The run included seven consecutive national titles from 1967 to 1973 and an 88-game winning streak. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, then known as Lew Alcindor, and Bill Walton became central figures in that era, while later Bruins such as Reggie Miller, Russell Westbrook and Kevin Love carried the lineage into new generations.
