Alan Shearer began his career at Southampton, scoring a hat-trick on his debut at seventeen — the youngest player at the time to score a top-flight hat-trick. He joined Blackburn Rovers in 1992, won the Premier League title with them in 1995, and scored 23 goals that season. In 1996 he became the world’s most expensive player when Newcastle United paid £15 million — then a world record — to bring him home. He spent ten seasons at the club, scoring 206 goals in all competitions. He captained England at Euro 96, finishing as the tournament’s top scorer with five goals.
