Dave Mackay Hoodie — The Hardest Player in British Football. Tottenham’s Double Winner.

The Dave Mackay hoodie from Players Couture carries the name of the most physically and mentally indomitable footballer British football produced in the 1960s across the chest in bold lettering, contrasting colour, made to order when you place yours. Dave Mackay won the First Division and FA Cup Double with Tottenham Hotspur in 1961 — the first club in the twentieth century to achieve the Double — broke his left leg twice in quick succession and returned to play at the highest level both times, and was named the FWA Footballer of the Year in 1969 at the age of thirty-four. For Spurs supporters who know the Double squad and for followers of Scottish football who consider him the finest player the country produced in the 1960s, this is the fan apparel.

Dave Mackay joined Hearts as a teenager and moved to Tottenham Hotspur in 1959 for £32,000, becoming the midfield engine of the most celebrated Spurs side in history. He won the First Division and FA Cup Double in 1961, the FA Cup in 1962 and the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup in 1963. He broke his left leg in December 1963 and again in July 1964 — returning to play for Spurs both times, which many who knew him considered his greatest achievement. He joined Derby County in 1968, was named the FWA Footballer of the Year jointly with Tony Book in 1969, and helped Derby win the Second Division and later the First Division. For Scotland, he earned 22 caps.
