Known for his work rate, loyalty, pressing, finishing and big-game attitude, Kuyt played for Quick Boys, FC Utrecht, Feyenoord, Liverpool and Fenerbahçe before returning to Feyenoord to complete one of the great fairytale endings in modern Dutch football. His club career included KNVB Cup success with Utrecht, unforgettable years at Feyenoord, cult hero status at Liverpool, silverware in Turkey with Fenerbahçe, and a famous Eredivisie title-winning return with Feyenoord.

For Liverpool fans, Kuyt is remembered as a relentless forward who gave everything in red, scored in huge matches, produced a famous hat-trick against Manchester United and helped Liverpool win the League Cup. For Feyenoord fans, he is remembered as the captain and leader who returned home and scored a hat-trick on the final day to help deliver the club’s long-awaited league title.

His Netherlands career was just as impressive. Kuyt earned 104 caps and scored 24 goals for the Dutch national team, representing the Netherlands at the 2006, 2010 and 2014 World Cups, as well as major European tournaments. He played a key role in the Netherlands reaching the 2010 World Cup final and was also part of the squad that finished third at the 2014 World Cup.
