Eusébio da Silva Ferreira remains one of the most iconic footballers of all time. Known as the “Black Panther”, he became a global superstar with Benfica and Portugal, admired for his explosive pace, powerful shooting, athletic style and incredible goalscoring record. At club level, Eusébio became a legend at Benfica, helping the Portuguese giants dominate domestically and compete at the highest level in Europe. He won multiple league titles, lifted the European Cup with Benfica in 1962 and became one of the most feared forwards of his generation.

For Portugal, Eusébio’s international career became football history. His defining tournament came at the 1966 World Cup in England, where he scored nine goals and finished as the tournament’s top scorer. His performances helped Portugal reach third place, including a famous comeback against North Korea where Eusébio scored four times. For many fans, that World Cup remains one of the great individual tournament performances, placing him among the true legends of international football.
