The Gordon Banks hoodie from Players Couture carries the name of the greatest goalkeeper in the history of English football across the chest in bold lettering, contrasting colour, made to order when you place yours. Gordon Banks won the World Cup with England in 1966, made the save that Pelé called the greatest he ever saw at the 1970 World Cup against Brazil, and was named the FIFA Goalkeeper of the Year six consecutive times. For England supporters who hold the name Gordon Banks as the definition of excellence in the goalkeeping position, this is the fan apparel.

Gordon Banks joined Chesterfield from Millwall in 1955 before moving to Leicester City in 1959, where he spent eight seasons becoming the finest goalkeeper in the country. He moved to Stoke City in 1967. For England, he earned 73 caps and won the World Cup in 1966. At the 1970 World Cup in Mexico, he made a save from Pelé’s downward header against Brazil — scooping the ball from beneath his body and over the bar — that Pelé described as the greatest save he ever saw and that is universally rated as the finest in the history of the game. He lost the sight of his right eye in a road accident in 1972, ending his career. He was awarded an OBE in 1970.
