Graeme Souness is remembered as one of the toughest, most commanding midfielders of his generation. Born in Edinburgh, he began his senior career with Tottenham Hotspur, also spending time with Montreal Olympique, before making his name at Middlesbrough. His powerful performances at Boro helped establish him as a serious midfield talent, combining aggression, passing range, leadership and a fierce winning mentality.

His move to Liverpool turned him into a football legend. At Anfield, Souness became a central figure in one of the greatest club sides in British football history, winning multiple First Division titles, European Cups, League Cups and domestic honours. As Liverpool captain, he represented everything fans loved about that era: strength, control, authority and big-match confidence. He later played for Sampdoria in Italy, winning the Coppa Italia, before joining Rangers as player-manager, where he helped transform the club and added further silverware to an already outstanding career.

For Scotland, Souness won 54 caps and scored 4 goals. He represented his country at three World Cups: Argentina 1978, Spain 1982 and Mexico 1986. His 1978 appearance against the Netherlands came in one of Scotland’s most famous World Cup victories, while in 1982 he played in all three group games and scored against the Soviet Union. For Scottish football fans, Souness remains a true international hero: intense, fearless and impossible to ignore.
