Kenny Dalglish joined Liverpool from Celtic in 1977 for £440,000 — then a British record. He spent eight seasons as a player, then five as player-manager and manager, winning an extraordinary haul of honours across thirteen years at the club. As a player he won the European Cup in 1978, 1981 and 1984, six First Division titles and the FA Cup. As player-manager he won the First Division and FA Cup double in 1986 and two further First Division titles. He was named the FWA Footballer of the Year in 1979 and 1983. For Scotland, he earned 102 caps and scored 30 international goals, captaining his country at two World Cups. He returned as Liverpool manager in 2011 and won the League Cup in 2012.
