Mbappe was born in Bondy, a suburb of Paris, in 1998. He came through Monaco's academy and made his professional debut at 16. His performances at Monaco in 2016-17 were extraordinary for a teenager — 26 goals in all competitions and a Champions League semi-final performance against Manchester City that made every major club in Europe aware of what they were dealing with. PSG signed him for £165 million in 2018, making him the second most expensive player in history at the time, and he spent seven years at the club, becoming their all-time leading scorer.
