At Inter, Matthäus became one of Serie A’s standout stars, helping the club win the league title and the UEFA Cup. His time in Italy elevated his global reputation and confirmed him as one of the best players in the world. He later returned to Bayern Munich, adding more Bundesliga success, domestic trophies and European honours before finishing his professional career with the MetroStars in the United States. Across his club career, Matthäus represented Borussia Mönchengladbach, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan and MetroStars, building a legacy across Germany, Italy and America.
