After coming through Borussia Dortmund’s academy, he became one of Germany’s most exciting attacking midfielders, helping Dortmund win Bundesliga titles under Jürgen Klopp. His performances earned a move to Bayern Munich, where he added more major honours, including Bundesliga titles and domestic cups, before returning to Borussia Dortmund. He later rebuilt and refreshed his career at PSV Eindhoven, winning silverware in the Netherlands, before joining Eintracht Frankfurt, where he continues to represent German football at club level.

For Germany, Götze will always be remembered as the player who scored the winning goal in the 2014 World Cup final against Argentina. His extra-time finish became one of the defining moments of the tournament and secured Germany’s fourth World Cup. Across his international career, he earned 66 senior caps and scored 17 goals, representing Germany at major tournaments including the World Cup and European Championship.
