About Niko Kranjčar

Niko Kranjčar is remembered as one of Croatia’s most technically gifted midfielders, admired for his vision, composure, and wand of a left foot. The son of Croatian legend Zlatko Kranjčar, Niko carved out a career that earned him cult-hero status across Europe.

He began in Croatia with Dinamo Zagreb and Hajduk Split, before making his mark in England with Portsmouth. It was at Pompey where he became a fan favourite, playing a key role in their historic FA Cup triumph in 2008 – a golden moment in the club’s history. His performances earned him a move to Tottenham Hotspur, where he featured in the Premier League and European club football under Harry Redknapp.

Kranjčar later showcased his talent with Dynamo Kyiv, Rangers, and New York Cosmos, adding silverware and unforgettable moments at every stop. On the international stage, he was a cornerstone of the Croatian national team, earning over 80 caps. He famously scored against England in their Euro 2008 qualifying campaign, helping Croatia top a group that shocked Europe.
