Starting his professional career with Karlsruher SC, he developed into one of Germany’s most commanding keepers before joining Bayern Munich in 1994. At Bayern, Kahn became a true club legend, winning eight Bundesliga titles, six DFB-Pokal trophies, the UEFA Cup, the European club football and the Intercontinental Cup. Known for his intensity, leadership, shot-stopping and fierce winning mentality, Kahn became the face of elite goalkeeping for a generation of football fans.

His international career with Germany was just as memorable. Kahn earned 86 caps for the national team and was part of the squad that won Euro 1996. He featured in World Cup squads across the 1990s and 2000s, with his defining tournament coming at the 2002 World Cup. As Germany’s captain and goalkeeper, he produced a series of outstanding performances, keeping multiple clean sheets and helping guide Germany to the final. His displays were so dominant that he won the Golden Ball as the tournament’s best player, a rare and historic achievement for a goalkeeper. He was also part of Germany’s 2006 World Cup squad, ending his international career after helping Germany finish third on home soil.
