Born in Palermo, Italy, Schillaci began his professional career with AC Messina, where his natural eye for goal started to shine. His performances earned him a move to Juventus, where he became part of a title-winning squad and continued to build his reputation at the highest level of Italian football.

He later played for Inter Milan, adding another giant club to his résumé, before taking his talents abroad to Japan with Júbilo Iwata, where he helped grow the game during the early rise of the J-League.

Internationally, Schillaci became a national hero during the 1990 World Cup, finishing as the tournament’s top scorer and winning the Golden Boot. His explosive goals, relentless energy and emotional celebrations made him a favourite with fans and turned him into a lasting symbol of football romance and underdog success.
