Early Years in Bristol

Introduced to the game by his father, a long-distance lorry driver, Trump was a prodigy from the start. He won the English Under-15 title aged just ten, collected a string of junior crowns and, in March 2004, became the youngest player to make a competitive 147, aged 14. A wild card took him onto the professional tour in 2005, aged 16.

The 2011 Breakthrough

Everything clicked in spring 2011. Trump beat Mark Selby 10-8 to win the China Open, his first ranking title, then attacked his way to the world final, where he lost 18-15 to John Higgins. Months later he went one better at the UK Championship in York, claiming his first Triple Crown title before the year was out.

World Champion and Record Breaker

The 2018/19 season was the making of him. Trump won the Masters, then gained revenge on Higgins with an 18-9 victory in the 2019 world final to complete the Triple Crown. He became the first player to earn more than £1 million in a single season, and followed it with a record six ranking titles in 2019/20, when he also made 100 centuries. He reached another world final in 2022.

A second Masters arrived in 2023, and 2024/25 was arguably even better: the UK Championship, the inaugural Saudi Arabia Snooker Masters and a record 107 centuries, plus record prize money of £1,680,600.

The Latest Chapter

Trump endured a frustrating 2025, losing several finals, but ended a 14-month wait by thrashing Shaun Murphy 10-4 at the 2026 German Masters, a record fourth win at the Tempodrom and his 31st ranking title. That put him fourth on the all-time list. He was edged 13-12 by Hossein Vafaei at the Crucible in April as Wu Yize went on to lift the world title, but bounced back by beating Kyren Wilson 11-6 in the Shanghai Masters final in August.
