Brian Bevan, Warrington's record-breaking winger
Brian Bevan arrived from Australia in 1945 and transformed expectations of what a winger could achieve in British rugby league. Slight in build compared with many opponents, he relied on acceleration, balance, anticipation and an extraordinary ability to finish from limited space. Warrington supporters quickly recognised a player capable of turning an ordinary movement into a try.
Bevan scored 740 tries for Warrington and more than 790 across his senior career, totals that remain almost impossible to imagine in the modern game. He helped Warrington win championships and Challenge Cups during a major era for the club and represented Other Nationalities, reflecting the eligibility structures of the period. The statue outside the Halliwell Jones Stadium confirms his place in the town's sporting identity.
A surname that means tries in Warrington
Bevan works on a Players Couture T-shirt for Wire supporters and rugby league historians who know the scale of the record. It celebrates speed, instinct and a player adopted by the town without reproducing a club badge or heritage jersey.
How to wear the Brian Bevan T-shirt
Wear it for a Super League weekend, a cup final, a pub screening or an ordinary day away from the ground. The name print works with denim, shorts or joggers and gives rugby league fanatics a lighter everyday alternative to a replica jersey. White gives the print a crisp finish, Black and Navy provide easy darker options, Grey has a softer athletic character and Red adds more impact.
Fit, fabric and made-to-order production
The T-shirt is made from soft ringspun cotton with a crew neck, short sleeves and a regular men's fit. It is available in White, Black, Red, Navy and Grey in sizes S, M, L, XL, 2XL and 3XL. Check the size guide before ordering, particularly when buying for somebody else or choosing a looser fit.
Each garment is printed to order in the United Kingdom after the customer selects the colour and size. No finished pre-printed stock is produced before an order is placed. This reduces the need to hold large quantities of finished stock and allows Players Couture to maintain specialist names alongside widely recognised favourites. Free UK delivery is included.
Wash inside out with similar colours on a cool cycle. Avoid bleach, do not iron directly over the print and air dry where practical. These steps help protect the cotton shape and printed lettering through repeat wear.
