Brisbane Broncos and a Queensland rugby league powerhouse
The Brisbane Broncos entered the New South Wales Rugby League premiership in 1988, giving Queensland a major club on the national stage. Coached by Wayne Bennett and built around leading local talent, the Broncos quickly became competitive and won their first premiership in 1992 before successfully defending it in 1993.
