Commanders, Washington football history under a modern name
Washington's NFL franchise began in Boston in 1932 and moved to the capital in 1937. Its history includes championships before the Super Bowl era and three Super Bowl victories under coach Joe Gibbs, achieved with different starting quarterbacks. The Commanders name was introduced in 2022 after two interim seasons as Washington Football Team.
