Born into a musical family in Honolulu, Mars was performing on stage as a young child. After moving to Los Angeles he built his reputation as a songwriter and producer before stepping into the spotlight himself.

Unorthodox Jukebox (2012) topped the US chart, and in 2014 he headlined the Super Bowl halftime show. Uptown Funk, his 2014 hit with Mark Ronson, then spent 14 weeks at number one in the US and seven in the UK.

Silk Sonic and Global Duets
With Anderson .Paak he formed Silk Sonic, whose 2021 album won all four of its Grammy categories. Die with a Smile with Lady Gaga topped the US Hot 100 in 2024, and APT. with Rosé became a worldwide smash. He also became the first artist to pass 150 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
The Romantic Era
The Romantic was released on Atlantic on 27 February 2026 and opened at number one in the US. Its lead single, I Just Might, also debuted at the top of the Hot 100.
The Romantic Tour opened at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on 10 April 2026, with Anderson .Paak on the decks at every show and the UK and Europe on the schedule.
