Early Years: From Dance Class to Billy Elliot
Tom grew up in south-west London, the eldest of four brothers, son of photographer Nicola and comedian and author Dominic Holland. At nine, a hip hop class at Nifty Feet Dance School changed everything when choreographer Lynne Page spotted him. After two years of training, he joined Billy Elliot the Musical in the West End in June 2008 as Michael, then took the title role, playing Billy until 2010.

Breakthrough: The Impossible and Becoming Spider-Man
His film breakthrough came in The Impossible (2012), as a teenager caught up in the 2004 tsunami, winning him critics' awards on both sides of the Atlantic. Wolf Hall and In the Heart of the Sea followed before his Spider-Man debut in Captain America: Civil War (2016). Homecoming (2017) made him the youngest actor to headline a Marvel film, and that year he won the BAFTA EE Rising Star Award.

Defining Moments: Billion-Dollar Hits and New Challenges
Far From Home (2019) and No Way Home (2021) both grossed more than $1 billion. Tom also stretched himself with the drama Cherry, the adventure Uncharted and the Apple TV+ series The Crowded Room, which he also executive produced. In 2024 he returned to the stage as Romeo in Jamie Lloyd's Romeo and Juliet at the Duke of York's Theatre.
