Brede Hangeland, Fulham captain and European finalist
Brede Hangeland was born in Houston and raised in Norway, developing at Viking before playing for FC Copenhagen and joining Fulham in 2008. At six foot five he offered obvious aerial strength, but his best performances also depended on positioning, calm distribution and an ability to organise the defensive line.
Hangeland became central to Roy Hodgson's Fulham side, helping the club finish seventh in the Premier League and then reach the 2010 Europa League final.
