The story behind the name

Eala developed at the Rafa Nadal Academy and became the first Filipino to win a junior Grand Slam singles title when she lifted the 2022 US Open girls' trophy. Her senior breakthrough accelerated with major wins against elite opponents in 2025, before she became the first player from the Philippines to claim a WTA Tour-level singles title in Washington in 2026. Her athletic baseline game, left-handed angles and connection with Filipino supporters have made her impact much larger than rankings alone.
