At WrestleMania 21, Batista defeated his former mentor for the World Heavyweight Championship.
That first reign lasted 282 days and established Batista as a genuine leading figure. He defeated Triple H again inside Hell in a Cell and later contested major rivalries with The Undertaker, Edge, Rey Mysterio, John Cena and Randy Orton. Across his principal runs he became a six-time world champion, held tag-team gold and won the Royal Rumble in both 2005 and 2014.
Batista returned in 2014, rejoined Evolution during its rivalry with The Shield and then stepped away to continue an increasingly successful acting career. His final wrestling programme arrived in 2019 when he provoked Triple H into a No Holds Barred contest at WrestleMania 35. The defeat became a farewell on Batista's terms, completing a journey from developmental prospect to WrestleMania headliner and internationally recognised entertainer.
