There are partnerships that define an era of international football. For England, Beckham and Rooney were two of the most important names of a generation. This Players Couture t-shirt celebrates both of them in England colours, made for fans who lived through the years when those two names appeared on the team sheet and the expectation soared.

Beckham's England career ran from 1996 to 2009. He won 115 caps, captained the side for much of that time and delivered one of the most famous individual moments in recent England history when his free kick against Greece in 2001 sent the country to the World Cup in the final seconds of the qualifying campaign. His delivery from wide positions, his ability to create from set pieces and his presence as a leader made him central to everything England tried to achieve in two World Cups and two European Championships.

Rooney's England story began at Euro 2004 when he became, at 18, the youngest player to score in a European Championship. His career never matched the promise of those early tournaments in terms of trophies, but his goals, his commitment and his leadership made him the most prolific England scorer the country has produced. He scored in World Cups in Germany and South Africa, captained the side in his later years and retired from international football in 2018 as England's all-time record scorer with 53 goals.

Together on the pitch for club and country, they represented different things. Beckham was precision and elegance. Rooney was power and fire.
