Bobby Charlton is the greatest player England has ever produced. That is not a small claim. It is the considered judgment of everyone who watched him play, everyone who played alongside him and everyone who has studied the game he graced for nearly two decades. This Bobby Charlton hoodie from Players Couture is made for fans who understand what his name means to English football. Fan apparel built around a legend.

Charlton was born in Ashington, Northumberland in 1937 and was identified as an exceptional talent from childhood. He joined Manchester United as a teenager and made his debut in 1956. Two years later, the Munich Air Disaster took the lives of eight of his United teammates. Charlton survived. What followed was a career of extraordinary achievement built in the shadow of that tragedy. He played for Manchester United for seventeen years, making 758 appearances and scoring 249 goals. He was part of the United team that won the Football League title in 1956, 1957, 1965 and 1967. He was part of the team that won the European Cup in 1968, scoring twice in a 4-1 win over Benfica at Wembley, becoming the first English club to win Europe's greatest prize.

For England, Charlton was the heartbeat of Alf Ramsey's World Cup winning side in 1966. He played every match, controlled the midfield with a power and intelligence that made him almost impossible to stop and was central to the greatest achievement in the history of English football. He won the Ballon d'Or that year, the highest individual honour in the game. He earned 106 caps for England and scored 49 goals, records that stood for decades. He was knighted in 1994, becoming Sir Bobby Charlton, and his name became synonymous with everything that football at its best can represent.

Bobby Charlton passed away in October 2023 at the age of 86. He is remembered as a player of genius, a man of enormous dignity and a symbol of what Manchester United and England have always stood for at their finest.
