Bobby Moore West Ham United Hoodie | Players Couture

Bobby Moore lifted the World Cup at Wembley in July 1966, cleaned his hands on the velvet surround of the royal box before accepting the trophy, and became the most recognised face in English football history. West Ham United's captain and England's greatest centre-back, Moore spent fifteen years at Upton Park and represents the best of what the club has always aspired to — technically brilliant, composed under pressure and respected by opponents in a way that very few defenders in any era have been.

Moore's game was built on reading the game rather than physical dominance. His anticipation, his positioning and his ability to win the ball cleanly and use it simply made him the template for the modern ball-playing defender before the concept had a name. Pelé called him the greatest defender he ever faced, and the Brazilian's judgement on matters of football quality is not one to dismiss lightly. Moore's West Ham years were the foundation of everything — the player who came from the academy, stayed through his prime and became the icon.
