César Azpilicueta, Chelsea captain and complete defender

César Azpilicueta began with Osasuna and moved to Marseille before joining Chelsea in 2012. A right-back capable of playing on either side or as a centre-half, he earned trust through concentration, fitness and an ability to adapt to different managers. Supporters shortened his name to Dave, but his longevity came from far more than affection.

Across 508 Chelsea appearances, Azpilicueta won two Premier League titles, the Champions League, two Europa Leagues, the FA Cup, League Cup, UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup.
