Philippe Coutinho arrived at Liverpool from Inter Milan in January 2013 and spent five seasons producing some of the most creative and entertaining football the Premier League had seen from a Brazilian since Juninho. His dribbling, his vision, his ability to score curling left-foot shots from distance and his playmaking across the front three made him the best player at the club across the mid-2010s.
His £142 million move to Barcelona in January 2018 was the most expensive transfer in the club's history at the time. A loan spell at Bayern Munich in 2019-20 produced the Champions League winners' medal he craved — four goals off the bench in the knock-out stages, including the decisive goal in the quarter-final. For Brazil he earned 56 caps and scored 20 international goals. A player of genuine genius whose best years at Liverpool remain among the most entertaining of the Klopp era.
