Dixie Dean, born William Ralph Dean in 1907, remains an icon of English football, best known for his astonishing goal-scoring feats with Everton in the 1920s and ’30s. Most famously, Dean set a record that has stood the test of time – scoring 60 league goals in the 1927–28 First Division season, a feat unmatched in top-flight English football.
Across his career, Dean netted 383 goals in 433 club appearances, including 349 goals in 399 games for Everton alone. He was a centre-forward of unmatched instinct, aerial prowess, and clinical finishing, inspiring generations of footballers to come. He also scored 18 goals in 16 appearances for England, underlining his world-class pedigree on the international stage.
