Edgar Davids Netherlands Hoodie | Players Couture Icon Frame Collection

Edgar Davids is one of the most distinctive and dynamic midfielders European football has ever produced. The dreadlocks. The goggles. The relentless energy. The ability to win the ball and immediately set the tempo from the middle of the pitch. Davids was unique and this Davids Netherlands hoodie from Players Couture is for fans who appreciate a player who brought something entirely their own to the game. Fan apparel built around one of Dutch football's most iconic figures.

Davids was born in Paramaribo, Suriname, in 1973 and grew up in the Netherlands, coming through the youth system at Ajax. He made his debut for the club in 1991 and was part of the Ajax generation that produced some of the best club football of the 1990s. He won three Eredivisie titles at Ajax and was part of the team that won the UEFA Champions League in 1995 with a performance that is still talked about as one of the great European Cup final victories, beating AC Milan 1-0 in Vienna with a team built almost entirely from players developed in their own academy.

Davids moved on to AC Milan, then Juventus, where he had the most celebrated period of his club career. At Juve he was known as The Pitbull for his tenacity, his work rate and his ability to dominate the physical aspects of the game while also contributing technically. He won Serie A with Juventus and was named in the UEFA Team of the Year. He played for Barcelona and Inter Milan, where he continued to deliver high-level performances well into his thirties. His presence in the middle of the pitch transformed the teams he played for. When Davids was on the ball, things happened.

The goggles are almost as famous as the player himself. Davids began wearing protective goggles following glaucoma surgery in 1999 and they became inseparable from his image. Combined with his dreadlocks, he was one of the most visually distinctive players in European football history. For the Netherlands, he won 74 caps and was part of the squad that reached the semi-finals of the 1998 World Cup and finished as runners-up at Euro 1992.
