Eric Cantona arrived at Old Trafford from Leeds United in November 1992 and within five seasons had changed the club’s trajectory entirely — winning four Premier League titles, two FA Cups and inspiring the Class of ‘92 who became the backbone of the most successful English club side of the modern era. Eric Cantona arrived at Manchester United from Leeds United in November 1992 for £1.2 million. In five seasons he won four Premier League titles, two FA Cups and two League and Cup Doubles. He was named PFA Players’ Player of the Year in 1994 and Football Writers’ Player of the Year twice. His influence on the younger players around him — Scholes, Beckham, Butt, the Nevilles — was acknowledged by Sir Alex Ferguson as the catalyst for everything that followed. He was banned for eight months following an incident at Crystal Palace in 1995 and returned to produce the finest season of his United career. For France, he earned 45 caps.
