Before Ronaldo, there was Eusebio. The Black Panther. The player who made Portugal matter in world football for the first time. The 1966 World Cup top scorer. The Ballon d'Or winner. The man whose statue stands outside Benfica's stadium as the permanent standard-bearer for everything the club and the country have produced since. This Eusebio Portugal t-shirt from Players Couture is for fans who know their football history and want to wear it. Fan apparel built around the original Portuguese footballing genius.

Eusebio was born in Mozambique and came to Benfica in the early 1960s, transforming himself from an unknown teenager into one of the most feared strikers in European football. He won the European Cup with Benfica in 1962. He scored nine goals at the 1966 World Cup in England to finish as the tournament's top scorer and won the Golden Boot. He won the Ballon d'Or in 1965. He was named by Pele as one of the greatest players in football history. He scored more than 700 career goals for club and country, a number that stands as testimony to a career of remarkable consistency and quality.

Eusebio passed away in January 2014. His legacy in Portugal is immeasurable. He created the template for the Portuguese striker, the technical quality combined with physical power that Ronaldo and others have built upon in subsequent generations.
