Gabriel Batistuta Roma T-Shirt | Players Couture

Gabriel Batistuta joined Roma from Fiorentina at 31 and won the only Serie A title in the club’s modern history in his first season — the Scudetto Roma had been waiting eighteen years for, delivered in part by a striker who had spent twelve years at Fiorentina without ever winning the Italian championship. His move to the capital was calculated around claiming the one honour his career had denied him, and it worked immediately.

Batistuta scored 30 goals in 60 appearances for Roma before injuries limited his later seasons, but the title he helped deliver in 2000-01 justified every element of the transfer. His finishing quality, his aerial dominance and his capacity to perform in decisive matches made him one of the most feared centre-forwards in Serie A history.
