The 1990 World Cup in Italy produced one of the most fiercely contested group stage matches in tournament history. West Germany versus the Netherlands. Two of the great football nations of Europe, competing in the same group in a tournament where both had genuine ambitions to lift the trophy. This Germany v Netherlands T-shirt from Players Couture is for fans who love World Cup history and want to wear a meeting of two great football nations. Fan apparel built around one of international football's most intense rivalries.

The 1988 European Championship had produced one of the classic knockout victories in tournament history when the Netherlands beat West Germany 2-1 in Hamburg in the semi-final, with Marco Van Basten's volley one of the most celebrated goals in international football. Two years later at Italia 90, they met again in the group stage. West Germany won 2-1 in a fractious, physical encounter that featured the controversial incident between Rudi Voller and Frank Rijkaard that earned both players red cards. The match was a reminder of how intense the rivalry between these two nations had become.

West Germany went on to win the 1990 World Cup, beating Argentina 1-0 in the final in Rome with an Andreas Brehme penalty. The Netherlands were eliminated in the second round. But the group stage meeting between the two nations was one of the most anticipated and most discussed matches of the tournament. Measure around the fullest part of your chest, under your arms, keeping the tape level and snug but not tight. If you are between two sizes, choose the larger size.

Relaxed or oversized look: go one size up.
Women: our tops are unisex in style, and many women choose their usual size for a relaxed, borrowed-from-him fit. We can also make women's cuts on request.
Compare with your own hoodie: lay a hoodie you love flat and measure from armpit to armpit. Our Large hoodie measures about 23.5 inches pit to pit.
