Johan Cruyff won three consecutive European Cups with Ajax between 1971 and 1973, three Ballon d’Or awards and was the most complete expression of Total Football that the game has produced. His ability to play across multiple positions, his vision and his technical quality changed how coaches across Europe thought about what a modern footballer could do.
