Roberto Baggio is the most beloved Italian footballer of his generation and one of the most gifted players Europe has ever produced. His ponytail. His pace. His intelligence on the ball. His Ballon d'Or in 1993. And the penalty that missed in the 1994 World Cup Final — a moment that cost Italy the title but came to define Baggio as a figure of tragedy and grace in equal measure. This Baggio hoodie from Players Couture is for fans who know the ponytail and the penalty and appreciate a player who brought something uniquely beautiful to Italian football. Fan apparel celebrating one of the great originals of the modern game.

Baggio was born in Caldogno, near Vicenza, in 1967 and came through Vicenza before a controversial move to Fiorentina, whose fans loved him so much that his transfer to Juventus in 1990 prompted riots in Florence. At Juventus he won the Serie A title and in 1993 won the Ballon d'Or after producing one of the great individual seasons in Italian football. He moved to AC Milan and then Sampdoria, Bologna, Inter Milan, Brescia and Lazio across a career that produced 205 goals in Serie A, the third highest in the competition's history at the time of his retirement.

At the 1994 World Cup in the United States, Baggio single-handedly carried Italy to the final with goals that kept his country alive through knock-out matches they would have exited without him. Against Nigeria in the round of 16, he equalised in the final seconds and scored the winner in extra time. Against Bulgaria in the semi-final, he scored both goals. In the final against Brazil, he missed a penalty in the shootout that gave Brazil the trophy. The image of Baggio with his head bowed after the miss is one of the most iconic in World Cup history.
