Sergio Ramos won four Champions League titles with Real Madrid, lifting the trophy as captain in 2014, 2016, 2017 and 2018. The Spanish centre-back's goal in the 93rd minute of the 2014 final against Atlético Madrid — a header that forced extra time when the match appeared lost — is one of the most dramatic moments in the competition's history, and one of many big-game contributions from a player who seemed to find his best when the stakes were highest.

Ramos's Real Madrid career spanned sixteen seasons and produced five La Liga titles alongside those four European Cups, establishing him as one of the most decorated outfield players in the club's history. His combination of defensive quality and goal threat from set-pieces — he scored over 100 career goals, an extraordinary return for a centre-back — made him genuinely unique. His aggression, his leadership and his refusal to accept any outcome other than victory were the qualities that made him irreplaceable for both club and country, and his partnership with Gerard Piqué for Spain during their dominant era was one of the finest centre-back partnerships in international football.
