Shearer and Gascoigne. The partnership that defined England's greatest night in a generation at Euro 96. Alan Shearer's power and goals. Paul Gascoigne's brilliance and creativity. Together in the white of England, in front of a full Wembley in the summer of 1996, they gave English football some of its most celebrated and most heartbreaking recent memories. This Shearer and Gascoigne hoodie from Players Couture is for fans who were there or who have seen the footage and understand why that summer still matters. Fan apparel celebrating England's golden pair of Euro 96.

Alan Shearer was born in Newcastle in 1970 and came through Southampton before Blackburn Rovers broke the British transfer record to sign him in 1992. He scored 23 goals to help Blackburn win the Premier League in 1995. Newcastle then broke the world transfer record to bring him home for £15 million in 1996 and he became the most celebrated player in the club's history, scoring 206 league goals in his Toon career. For England, he scored 30 goals in 63 appearances and was one of the most feared strikers of his era at international level.

Gascoigne played for Newcastle, Tottenham, Lazio, Rangers, Middlesbrough and Everton across a career that produced fewer medals than his talent deserved but more memorable individual moments than almost any English player has managed. At Euro 96, he was the best player in the tournament for England — brilliant against Scotland with that famous goal, outstanding against the Netherlands in the 4-1 win and devastating for large periods of the semi-final against Germany. His tears at Italia 90 had already made him one of the most beloved England players. His performances at Euro 96 confirmed him as the most naturally gifted Englishman of his era.
