Xavi's Barcelona years were the centrepiece of the most successful period in the club's modern history. His partnership with Andrés Iniesta gave the side a creative midfield combination that football academies still study as the benchmark for how the position should be played. His subsequent return as manager, and his commitment to rebuilding the team around the values he had embodied as a player, reflected how completely he understood what the club represented.
