Ed Sheeran is in the middle of another huge year. His Loop Tour has been filling stadiums across North America since June 2026, with the leg running until 7 November, and his 2025 album Play went straight to No. 1 in the UK. Not bad for a lad who started out busking and playing tiny open-mic nights.

Busking, Gigs and a Breakthrough
Born in Halifax and raised in Framlingham, Ed learned guitar as a child and was writing songs and gigging relentlessly as a teenager. Hundreds of small shows and a run of independent EPs built a loyal fanbase before the major labels came calling.
His debut album + arrived in 2011, led by "The A Team", a gentle acoustic song that reached No. 3 in the UK and later earned him an Ivor Novello Award.

Mathematics and Global Stardom
Ed named his albums after mathematical symbols, and each one seemed to get bigger. × gave us "Thinking Out Loud", which won two Grammys, while ÷ delivered "Shape of You", a No. 1 on both sides of the Atlantic and one of the most-streamed songs ever.
The run continued with = and −, completing the series, alongside the moodier Autumn Variations and the star-studded No.6 Collaborations Project.

It grossed around $776 million from roughly 8.9 million tickets, making it the highest-grossing tour of all time when it ended. The Mathematics Tour followed in 2022, and the Loop Tour began in Auckland in December 2025.
