For 15 seasons at Madison Square Garden, Henrik Lundqvist was simply the King. The Swedish goaltender won more games than anyone in New York Rangers history, collected the Vezina Trophy, an Olympic gold medal and a world title, and backstopped the Blueshirts to the 2014 Stanley Cup Final.
Elegant, fiercely competitive and impossibly cool, this is the story of King Henrik. Find more ice hockey legends in our ice hockey collection and the New York Rangers collection.

From Åre to Frölunda
Henrik Lundqvist was born in Åre, Sweden, on 2 March 1982, along with his twin brother Joel, who also became a professional player. The Rangers picked him 205th overall in the 2000 NHL Draft, one of the great late-round steals in league history.
He stayed in Sweden to develop with Frölunda HC, winning the Swedish championship in 2003 and 2005 and being named the league's best goaltender three seasons in a row. Celebrate the King with our Henrik Lundqvist 1 Rangers Ice Hockey Icon Frame Men's Hoodie.

Olympic Gold and a Rookie Sensation
Lundqvist made his NHL debut against the New Jersey Devils in October 2005 and took New York by storm. Fans and media crowned him King Henrik in his rookie season, when he made the NHL All-Rookie Team. In February 2006 he also led Sweden to Olympic gold at the Turin Winter Games.
He won 30 or more games in each of his first seven NHL seasons, a model of consistency. Show your support with our Henrik Lundqvist Men's T-Shirt.

Vezina, Game 7s and the 2014 Final
Lundqvist reached his peak in 2011–12, winning the Vezina Trophy as the league's best goaltender and making the NHL First All-Star Team. He was at his best when the stakes were highest, winning six Game 7s, tied for the most in NHL history.
In 2013–14 he carried the Rangers all the way to the Stanley Cup Final, and they reached three Eastern Conference Finals in four seasons. He added a World Championship gold with Sweden in 2017. Our Henrik Lundqvist 2 Rangers Ice Hockey Icon Frame Men's T-Shirt is a tribute to those famous nights at the Garden.

Farewell and the Hall of Fame
Lundqvist left the Rangers in 2020 with 459 wins, 64 shutouts and 887 games, all franchise records, plus nine team MVP awards. He signed with the Washington Capitals, but a heart condition kept him out of the 2020–21 season and he retired in August 2021. The Rangers retired his No. 30 in January 2022 and he entered the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2023.
