From Game to Screen
Naughty Dog's 2013 game was already one of the most loved stories in gaming when HBO brought in Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin to adapt it alongside the game's writer and director, Neil Druckmann. The premise stayed the same: a mutated Cordyceps fungus has collapsed society and turned people into infected creatures.

Joel and Ellie
Pedro Pascal plays smuggler Joel Miller and Bella Ramsey plays Ellie, an immune teenager he must escort across the country from Boston. Season one was filmed in and around Calgary, Alberta, and its third episode, "Long, Long Time", with Nick Offerman and Murray Bartlett, became one of the most talked-about hours of TV in 2023.
Season one averaged almost 32 million viewers per episode, making it HBO's most-watched debut season.

It averaged almost 37 million viewers per episode within two months.
