The Night in Düsseldorf

On 28 November 2015 Fury travelled to Germany as the underdog against Wladimir Klitschko, who had ruled the division for nearly a decade. He out-boxed him over 12 rounds to win the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, IBO and The Ring titles. It was the high point of his first reign, although a long spell out of the ring followed.

The Wilder Trilogy and Wembley

His comeback ended in one of the great heavyweight rivalries. Fury drew with Deontay Wilder in Los Angeles in 2018, getting up from a heavy knockdown in the final round, then stopped him in seven rounds in 2020 to win the WBC title. In the third fight, in October 2021, both men hit the canvas before Fury won by knockout in round 11. In April 2022 he beat Dillian Whyte in front of a huge crowd at Wembley.

Usyk, Retirement and Return

In May 2024 Fury fought Oleksandr Usyk for the undisputed title in Riyadh and lost a split decision, then lost the rematch that December. He retired in early 2025, but the break did not last. After a year away and a training camp in Thailand, he returned with two wins in 2026, and now the all-British battle with Joshua awaits.
