Adele's next chapter is on the big screen. The singer makes her acting debut in Cry to Heaven, Tom Ford's adaptation of Anne Rice's 1982 novel set in 18th-century Italy. Filming began in Rome on 19 January 2026 and wrapped in March, with Nicholas Hoult and Colin Firth among the cast.

Early Years in London
Adele was born in Tottenham and raised by her mother in London and, briefly, Brighton. She studied at the BRIT School in Croydon, graduating in May 2006. A three-song demo she recorded for a class project was posted on MySpace by a friend, and it caught the ear of Richard Russell at XL Recordings, who signed her in September 2006.

The Breakthrough: 19 and 21
Her debut album, 19, entered the UK chart at number one in January 2008, and she was named the first winner of the Brits Critics' Choice award that year. In 2009 she won Grammys for Best New Artist and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for Chasing Pavements.
Then came 21 in 2011. Powered by Rolling in the Deep and Someone like You, it topped the charts in 30 countries, spent 24 weeks at number one in the US and became the best-selling album of the 21st century. At the 2012 Grammys it won all six awards it was up for, including Album of the Year.

Skyfall, Hello and the Defining Moments
Her Bond theme Skyfall won the Golden Globe and the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 2013. In 2015 Hello opened the 25 era by debuting at number one in the UK and becoming the first song to sell more than a million US downloads in a single week. The album swept the 2017 Grammys with five wins, including Album and Record of the Year.
30 followed in 2021, led by Easy on Me, and her TV special Adele One Night Only earned a Primetime Emmy in 2022.
Las Vegas, Munich and Where She Is Now
Weekends with Adele opened at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace on 18 November 2022 and closed on 23 November 2024 after 100 shows. In August 2024 she played ten nights in a purpose-built 80,000-capacity venue in Munich, selling around 730,000 tickets. She then announced an indefinite break from music, and no fifth album has been announced.
