Four years after the final episode, Better Call Saul is still very much in the conversation. In September 2026 Rhea Seehorn, who played the unforgettable Kim Wexler, won her first Primetime Emmy for Vince Gilligan's Apple TV series Pluribus - overdue justice for a show that never won an Emmy.
Created by Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould, the Breaking Bad prequel turned a fast-talking side character into one of television's richest leading men. Here is your guide to the seasons, cast and story. Fans can also browse our full TV Series collection.

The Story of Jimmy McGill
Saul Goodman first appeared in Breaking Bad as Walter White's slippery lawyer, played with comic flair by Bob Odenkirk. Better Call Saul rewinds the clock to the early 2000s, when he is still Jimmy McGill, a struggling lawyer with a talent for schemes and a complicated relationship with his brilliant older brother Chuck, played by Michael McKean. Jonathan Banks returns as fixer Mike Ehrmantraut.
What began as a spin-off with a comic streak slowly became something deeper - a patient character study about how a decent, likeable man turns into the person we met in Breaking Bad.

Behind the Scenes
Like Breaking Bad before it, the show was made in Albuquerque, New Mexico, with production based at Albuquerque Studios. Fans still visit the restaurant used as Los Pollos Hermanos. The only notable exception was a season six opening scene filmed at Leo Carrillo State Beach in California.
The premiere drew around 6.9 million viewers in the US, at the time the biggest scripted series launch in basic cable history. Outside the US, Netflix carried the series as its exclusive streaming home in most territories, including the UK.

The Final Season and Beyond
The sixth season arrived in two parts in 2022 and brought the timeline full circle, with black-and-white scenes following the character's life after Breaking Bad. The finale aired on 15 August 2022 to wide acclaim.
The creative family has stayed busy since. Gilligan's Pluribus, starring Seehorn, premiered on Apple TV in November 2025 and has been renewed for a second season, while Odenkirk earned a Tony nomination in 2025 for the Broadway revival of Glengarry Glen Ross.
