Manchester Beginnings
Oasis grew out of a Manchester band called The Rain. Liam Gallagher joined as singer, the group changed its name, and his older brother Noel soon came aboard as guitarist and chief songwriter. In May 1993 Creation Records boss Alan McGee saw them at King Tut's Wah Wah Hut in Glasgow and offered them a deal.
Definitely Maybe (1994) became one of the fastest-selling debut albums in British history.

Morning Glory and Knebworth
(What's the Story) Morning Glory? (1995) spent ten weeks at No. 1, and in July 2026 the Official Charts Company named it the UK's biggest-selling studio album of all time. In August 1996 Oasis played two nights at Knebworth to around 250,000 people, with millions more applying for tickets.
Be Here Now (1997) became the fastest-selling album in UK chart history at the time.

The Split and the Reunion
Noel left on 28 August 2009 near Paris, and for 15 years the brothers went their separate ways. Then, on 27 August 2024, the reunion was confirmed. Live '25 opened in Cardiff on 4 July 2025 and played 41 shows across four continents, ending in São Paulo on 23 November. A documentary, Oasis: Don't Look Back in Anger, reached cinemas in September 2026.
