Christian Vieri Inter Milan T-Shirt | Players Couture

Christian Vieri arrived at Inter Milan in 1999 as the most expensive player in football history — the €46 million fee a reflection of a striker who had scored goals at every club he had played for and showed no sign of stopping. His five seasons at the San Siro produced 103 goals in 190 appearances, making him one of the most prolific strikers to have played for the Nerazzurri and one of the most effective number nines of his generation in European football.

Vieri's style was everything Inter fans wanted from a centre-forward — powerful, direct, two-footed and entirely clinical when the opportunity presented itself. His goalscoring record for Italy at international level confirmed that his club form was not a product of playing for teams better than the competition, but a reflection of genuine finishing ability that could cut through defences at the highest level. His performances in the 2002 World Cup, when injury interrupted one of his finest tournaments, remain a source of frustration for Italian fans who saw what might have been.
